FedEx IT is Wooing IT Jobseekers Using Blogs
Like many in the resume-writing industry, I oftentimes recommend to clients that professional blogging has been uncovered as a great way of promoting your own personal brand. Putting your professional career on the Internet has long been thought to draw employers and recruiters to you. I was first clued into this technique a couple years ago when having lunch with a recruiter. He mentioned that his prefered client base consisted of employed jobseekers who didn't know they were looking for a new position. He called it "cherry picking."
Blogs have become popular over the last year or so, however, jobseekers are still slow to jump on the ball and uncover the full potential of blogging.
Reading InfoWorld this morning, I discovered the well-known company, FedEx IT, is having success scouring the Internet in search for viable technical jobseekers. John Leech, recruiting manager for FedEx, stated that searching for new employees through blogs has been very successful.
