Ask Interview Questions Pertaining to the Job Only

James Amos, a columnist for The Pueblo Chieftain, interviewed Renee Rodriguez, a client services manager with Express Personnel Services. She commented on the legality of certain interview questions. She goes on to say, "... prospective employees shouldn't be asked anything that doesn't pertain to the job for which they are applying." Rodriguez provided an examble of a big-and-tall store eliminating a 4-foot model from hire because of the person's attributes.

When is it appropriate to eliminate candidates based on characteristics, and who draws the line on what's acceptable and what's bias? Definitely a fine line to walk, so it's of no surprise that companies sometimes find themselves in hot water.
